Contact

Established in 2018, Pillar Visuals is a London–based architectural visualisation studio specialising in the creation of narrative–focused and atmospheric, computer generated imagery.

We are a small team of visualisers, all with a background in architecture. As a studio we take pride in our understanding and appreciation of architectural intent. This knowledge allows us to truly support our clients (architects, developers and marketing teams) in the creation of expressive 3D images which capture the essence of a project through the careful composition of light, colour and storytelling.

1.

IMAGE PLAN

The image plan stage is where we explore the proposal, create composition studies and test lighting options. We use a white card material to better understand the form and mass of the architecture in order to find the best perspective for further exploration. We also include some moodboard imagery to illustrate the direction in which we anticipate taking the project.

2.

FIRST DRAFT

Once the camera is chosen, this stage becomes a crucial part of the process for us. We believe the first time a client sees their image it really needs to be special. While areas of the proposal will require further resolving, the essence and intent of the architecture will be clear, as well as the atmosphere and narrative. It’s at this stage where we give the most energy to the project through carefully crafted landscaping, texturing and animation.

3.

SECOND DRAFT

This refinement stage is where we really knuckle down on the development in collaboration with our clients. It's the opportunity to go back and forth, drilling into the minutiae, ironing out all the finer details of the proposal. All comments and feedback are taken into account and addressed in the second draft.

4.

FINAL IMAGE

By this stage we’ve worked closely with our clients to make sure all the details of the proposal are resolved in this final draft. After we present this stage any further adjustments are generally quite minor and once those are completed we provide all final imagery to the specifications required.

Work

A suite of artwork created for Alt Studioʼs Ramblerʼs Retreat in the North Pennines. The architectural form which rises out of the rugged English landscape is inspired by beacon-like structures which emerge from the crests of hills across the fells: from smelt mills and lead mind chimneys to trig pillars. Inspired by the works of great English painters we created timeless aesthetic- textured Turner skies and the soft warm hues of John Clayton Adams. A series that showed how the skin of the structure would evolve alongside the changing, bucolic landscape.
